OceanX is a technology platform that helps brands and entrepreneurs sell directly to consumers through membership and subscription services. In 2013 the company was hampered by fragmentation—nine different task-management systems across departments—so VP of Information Systems Brandon Cipes set out to standardize tooling and workflows on a single platform.
OceanX rolled out the Atlassian suite (Jira Software, Jira Service Desk, Confluence, Bitbucket and Bamboo) across engineering, product management, marketing and facilities to centralize planning, collaboration, documentation and CI/CD. The change cut release cycles from two-to-three weeks to daily deployments, sped testing and iteration, and fostered a more open, collaborative culture with measurable gains in speed and efficiency.
