A Jira Software Case Study
Lutron Electronics, a global leader in lighting control since 1960, faced a major challenge: coordinating complex, interdependent hardware and software teams with different cadences and legacy tools. Executives set a target to increase engineering productivity by 30%, but cultural differences, slow hardware lead times, and fractured program/portfolio processes made scaling agile across the organization difficult.
Partnering with Adaptavist and Atlassian, Lutron piloted SAFe and implemented Jira Align (integrated with Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Statuspage), reorganized teams to be cross-functional, and centralized planning and dependencies into a single source of truth. The changes drove dramatic results: engineering output rose about 34% in the first year and delivered roughly another 30% incremental growth the following year with Jira Align, while reducing dependencies, improving visibility, and accelerating speed to market.
