A Jira Software Case Study
Interspire, a Sydney-based ecommerce and email software company founded in 2004 with ~35 employees and 40,000 customers, needed faster, more transparent development and better internal tooling. Their workflow was ad hoc, builds were slow to diagnose, and Redmine didn’t let them publish roadmaps or customer-facing progress—so releases could take many months and customers doubted progress.
They adopted Atlassian tools—starting with Bamboo, then Jira, GreenHopper, Crowd and Confluence—and moved toward Scrum. Bamboo cut build-fix time from hours to seconds, Jira/GreenHopper enabled public roadmaps (track.interspire.com with ~5,000 daily visitors) and agile planning, Crowd provided SSO, and Confluence replaced their intranet. The result: release cycles shortened dramatically (recent releases cut from ~7 months to ~3 months) and overall development speed improved by about 30–40%.
