Global Health Exchange standardizes on Atlassian for secure, agile development

Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX) connects hospitals and suppliers through a cloud-based trading exchange to reduce costs and improve care. In 2014 GHX aimed to adopt Git and agile across its 70+ engineering team but needed tools that met strict security and regulatory requirements—Git alone and hosted services like GitHub exposed intellectual property and lacked necessary user-management controls.

GHX standardized on Atlassian: Bitbucket Server to keep code behind the firewall and enforce branch permissions and merge checks, plus Jira Software, Bamboo, Confluence and Jira Service Desk (with cPrime training) to integrate workflows, CI/CD, documentation and service management. The result was faster, more efficient development and release processes, improved productivity across engineering, and broader enterprise adoption (HR, IT, finance, executives) while maintaining the security controls required for the healthcare industry.
