Software AG, a Darmstadt‑based software firm, found its on‑premise tooling strained by rapid growth—causing rising costs, slower performance, and mounting security and compliance complexity. A ransomware incident and strict European data requirements pushed the company to adopt a cloud‑first strategy while ensuring regulatory controls remained intact.

Working with Atlassian and solution partner Brainbits, Software AG implemented Atlassian Cloud (Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence) and Atlassian Access with Azure AD, using iterative proofs of concept and training. The move enabled data segregation via multiple instances, over 200 Jira projects, stronger access controls and automations, reduced maintenance overhead, and faster, more secure collaboration—freeing IT to focus on strategic initiatives and allowing the company to scale confidently.
