EMC Insurance, a century-old financial services company based in Des Moines with about 2,600 active users in its Atlassian ecosystem, needed to modernize from Data Center to Atlassian Cloud without disrupting business-critical workflows. The challenge was to migrate a heavily integrated system (Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo and multiple marketplace apps), reduce technical debt and maintenance overhead, and avoid downtime or service interruptions during the move.

EMC partnered with Mumo Systems for a four-month program of cleanup, optimization, testing and change management—removing unused apps, eliminating 40,000 inactive users, simplifying workflows and validating configurations with Atlassian—then executed the migration over a single weekend. The result: a seamless transition with 0 downtime and 0 backlog since migrating, reduced maintenance and security burden, doubled capacity to tackle planned work (they’ve cleared the backlog twice), and a more secure, future-ready platform for serving customers.
