John Muir Health, a Northern California health-care system with about 5,000 employees, formed a 10-person e-Business team to overhaul its web and mobile presence. With most developers remote and work split across two contracting agencies, the new distributed team faced coordination, visibility and VPN/access challenges that made building trust and tracking progress difficult.

They adopted Atlassian’s Jira Studio plus Jira and Confluence, running agile three-week sprints with daily video standups, a shared virtual task board, and periodic on-site planning/retrospective weeks. The cloud tooling eliminated deployment and VPN overhead, gave real-time visibility into tasks and risks, improved coordination with contractors, and helped the team build trust and deliver work more predictably.
