A Jira Software Case Study
Cancer Research UK is a major UK charity with about 3,000 staff supporting researchers, clinicians and fundraisers toward the goal of dramatically improving cancer survival. After bringing much web development in‑house, work was tracked in scattered silos with Excel and Word and a waterfall release cadence, leaving teams slow, frustrated and delivering outdated results that hampered the charity’s mission.
CRUK adopted Atlassian’s Jira, Confluence and Trello under a community license, paired with training and partner support, to standardize workflows and enable Agile ways of working. Adoption spread across technical and non‑technical teams, accelerating delivery—from biannual major releases to monthly—and enabling rapid code review and many more updates per year, improving collaboration and helping the charity move faster toward its strategic goals.
