Build.com is an online home-improvement retailer (founded 2000, ~300 employees) whose success depends on a custom order-management and store platform. The company needed better transparency, cross‑department coordination and a secure, auditable software development lifecycle after failing an initial PCI compliance assessment.
Build.com implemented Atlassian tools—primarily Jira for ticketing, customized workflows and integrations (plus plugins like Minyaa) and Confluence for documentation and onboarding—to enforce multi‑step checks, automate helpdesk intake and remove card data from systems. The result was rapid adoption across the company (from 3 to 42 projects), roughly 400 Jira tickets created and resolved daily, improved auditability that satisfied auditors and attainment of the required PCI controls.
