Atlassian Helps Distributed Teams at Red Giant Stay in Sync

Red Giant, a Portland-based maker of filmmaking and motion-graphics tools best known for the Magic Bullet Suite, serves independent filmmakers and major studios. With developers distributed around the globe and a codebase spanning more than 60 products and modules, the team moved from SVN to Git to speed development, improve workflow for a dispersed team, and better manage branching and releases.

Already using Jira and Confluence, Red Giant adopted Bitbucket to tie specs to backlogs and create epics and branches directly from their planning tools; developers access Git via browser, CLI, or the desktop client for flexibility. Using GitFlow with 60+ active branches, the Atlassian stack increased visibility across the development lifecycle, made branch switching and code tracking easier, and improved collaboration so the team can focus on building great special‑effects software.
