Leading U.S. Brewer Company partnered with IRI to better understand store-level shopper behavior, improve new product forecasting, and gain a more complete view of competitor and client sales across its portfolio. The challenge was to unify disparate data sources and use them to make faster, more accurate assortment decisions across a very large store base.
IRI built a store-level assortment optimization solution using its Liquid Data™ platform, integrating and harmonizing more than 100 internal and partner data sets into a basket-level database. The tool optimized recommendations by store based on beer attribute preferences and shelf-space constraints, and delivered them to route drivers for execution. In the pilot, the client achieved incremental 2% portfolio growth per week, translating to more than $700M in annual sales, while also significantly improving new product forecasting.
