Race-To-Market Study Surpasses Diversity and Enrollment Goals

Leading Pharmaceutical Company needed to recruit a diverse, hard-to-reach population (age 60+) for a global Phase III RSV vaccine trial but faced site fatigue after COVID-19 studies, low patient awareness of RSV, and one-third of sites with little to no enrollment. To address these challenges, the sponsor engaged IQVIA and its Direct-to-Patient (DTP) recruitment solution alongside digital site-support services.

IQVIA implemented a multichannel outreach and site support program—combining DTP, digital/social media, direct mail/email, a Health Marketing Network, prescreening/Referral Hub technology, and DCT/eCOA tools—which delivered randomizations 80% over target and a 96% site opt-in rate. The campaign randomized 3,180 patients via DTP across eight regions, contributed 18% of U.S. randomized patients, achieved an 8.5% referral-to-randomization rate (vs. 2.8% competitor), and surpassed diversity goals (12.2% Black vs 7% contracted; 8.5% Hispanic vs 5% contracted).
