Leading Healthcare Provider - Customer Case Study

Leading Healthcare Provider faced the challenge of identifying patients with the rare, often under‑diagnosed cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR‑CM) amid fragmented symptoms across specialties and no existing automated screening tool. To address this, they worked with IQVIA using IQVIA’s Patient Finder to search electronic patient records for signals indicating high ATTR‑CM probability.

IQVIA implemented an iterative search query on the hospital’s EPR that combined structured and free‑text data, machine‑learning and algorithmic rules while respecting privacy requirements. From 19,537 patients >50 with HCM and without AVS the tool flagged 53 with strong evidence; about a quarter (14) were called for follow‑up—4 were confirmed ATTR‑CM, 4 were negative and 6 are awaiting further testing—demonstrating IQVIA’s Patient Finder can uncover previously missed cases, enable earlier treatment and potentially reduce inappropriate care and costs.
