A IQVIA Case Study
U.S. Biopharmaceutical Company engaged IQVIA Biotech to support a Phase II dermatology trial for moderate-to-severe hidradenitis suppurativa. The sponsor’s challenge was to identify a rarely diagnosed patient population—especially African American and Hispanic patients—and to select sites in warmer southern U.S. regions to meet diversity, enrollment milestones and an accelerated timeline. IQVIA leveraged its dermatology expertise, insight-driven site identification and IQVIA CORE™ data to design the recruitment approach.
IQVIA implemented a centralized, metric-driven strategy: clustering multiple sites in medium/large cities, prioritizing southern markets, and deploying geo-targeted traditional and digital media, patient advocacy outreach and physician referral programs. The vendor’s approach reached initial enrollment two weeks early, directly generated 40% of total randomized subjects, placed 73% of recruitment-managed randomized subjects in southern regions, and located 49% of African American/Hispanic randomized patients in medium-to-large markets, accelerating the trial timeline and improving media ROI.
