Wairoa Centennial Library Creates Data-Driven, Interactive WWI Memorial Using In-House Staff

Wairoa Centennial Library was gifted a 65" Ideum touch table by the local SALUTE Wairoa group and tasked with creating an interactive WWI memorial to showcase photos, stories and community-contributed memorabilia. The team faced constrained staffing and budget, no in-house coding expertise, a need for highly customizable experiences rather than template presets, and a requirement that the exhibit be data-driven and easy to update as new materials arrived.

The library hired a marketing intern who evaluated and used Intuiface (starting with the Free Edition) to build bespoke, code-free interactions linked to a simple Excel data source. After purchasing an annual Composer license they rapidly developed projects including a shipwreck demo, a multi-user “Multi-Brush” app, historical maps and the WWI Veterans Memorial. The result: more than 60 families contributed content, regular community events and children’s classes increased engagement, and the exhibit is now being rolled out to local schools and the museum — all delivered on a limited public library budget.
