Young New Yorkers - Customer Case Study

Young New Yorkers is a Brooklyn-based restorative justice arts program for 16- and 17-year-olds with open criminal cases that uses volunteer mentors, artists and court partners to steer youth away from incarceration. As the program grew, staff worried that consumer-grade tools (Dropbox, Google Docs) couldn’t securely handle large artwork files or protect highly sensitive participant records, while also making collaboration and version tracking easy for 100+ volunteers and justice-system stakeholders.

In October 2014 the organization adopted Intralinks VIA to provide file-level security, controlled sharing (including the ability to “unshare”), version tracking, automatic sync and cloud backup across desktop, browser and mobile. The solution sped sharing of large files, centralized records for easier access and auditing, and ensured confidential case information is only available to authorized parties—supporting program expansion, smoother collaboration and the protection of participants who benefit from the program’s strong outcomes (75 teens served with a 100% completion rate and significant social ROI).
