A IntraLinks Case Study
Three Rivers Legal Services (TRLS) is a nonprofit law firm that provides legal aid to low‑income and vulnerable people. TRLS found that many homeless clients lose or cannot safely keep vital documents—IDs, birth certificates, medical and legal records—which prevents them from getting medical care, public benefits, and employment. TRLS’s internal case files weren’t accessible in the field and mailing paper copies to clients was often impractical.
TRLS chose Intralinks VIA over consumer cloud options to provide a secure, compliant way to host and deliver client documents that clients can access from smartphones or public computers. Within six months 20 clients were using the service and five (25%) moved to independent living; benefits that once took up to two years have been obtained in as little as a month, Social Security application time was reduced from 3+ hours to about 1 hour, and thousands of dollars have been returned to the local economy. TRLS reports improved medical care, lower shelter and unreimbursed medical costs, strong data privacy, and plans to scale the program to 100+ clients.
