Huisman develops the world's first service platform for the maritime industry – based on Intershop

Huisman, a world-leading designer and manufacturer of heavy construction equipment, needed to build its first global digital portal to support complex, distributed maritime operations. Facing the challenge of creating an online resource that works when vessels are intermittently connected, integrates diverse services under one environment, and pioneers servitization for an industry with no precedent, Huisman partnered with Fenego and chose the Intershop commerce platform to develop the myHuisman portal.

Using Intershop as the core, the team delivered a progressive web application—myHuisman—that unifies a technical library, a B2B parts shop and a service/customer support channel with multi-level hierarchies, Azure integrations and offline sync. Intershop’s platform enabled Huisman to launch the industry’s first servitization-capable solution, improve global access to parts and documentation, reduce downtime through remote diagnostics and drone-based inspections, and cut travel costs and carbon footprint by replacing many on-site engineer trips.
