Bakker.com, a 70‑year garden mail‑order market leader serving 19 European markets, faced the challenge of moving from catalog‑led commerce to a digital, multi‑channel retailer while translating specialist gardening expertise into easy‑to‑find online content and managing frequent, country‑specific changes. To achieve this shift the Company selected Intershop as the supplier of its new e‑commerce platform and content management system to centralize multi‑country operations and accelerate content updates.

Intershop implemented a centralized e‑commerce platform and CMS (working with partner Eperium) and enabled personalization via integration with Fredhopper, delivering an SEO‑ and mobile‑friendly site with ~1,000 new pages per language, 800+ images, 800+ advice articles and 30 videos. The Intershop solution improved merchandising and dynamic recommendations, drove a significant increase in average items per order, lifted mobile sales share, and supports Bakker.com’s high‑volume logistics (25,000–35,000 orders/day in high season).
