Bunzl Australasia, part of global distribution group Bunzl, needed to replace an outdated, heavily customised B2B e-commerce site that required manual workarounds and high in‑house maintenance. To deliver a responsive, mobile‑friendly, self‑service platform that could serve both B2B and B2C channels, Bunzl engaged Intershop and adopted Commerce Management B2X (7.7.4.0) along with the Contact Center Module and a Managed Services contract.
Intershop delivered an 8‑month Agile implementation (nine three‑week sprints) and ran the new BOS site in parallel with the legacy site while onboarding customers regionally over 4–6 months. The solution added catalogue filters affecting ~14,000 customers, Solr predictive search, and integrations with ERP System 21, eWay, Google Tag Manager and AddressVerify; Intershop’s Managed Services now supports the application. The result: significantly improved search, filtering and purchasing UX, self‑service account and order management, reduced support and operating costs, real‑time analytics and a scalable platform ready to expand to ~30,000 products and new channels.
