GKD is a global metal fabricator of more than 800 employees whose products serve industries including food processing, so the company was deemed an essential business during COVID-19. When the pandemic hit, many staff shifted to remote work while production workers had to remain on site, creating an urgent need to keep distributed teams connected and productive without disrupting manufacturing operations.

A week before lockdown GKD had moved from an on-premises phone system to Intermedia Unite (with AnyMeeting video), enabling calls to be routed to mobiles/desktops, one-login access, messaging, and simple video conferencing. The transition was seamless, widely adopted with minimal support, kept sales and production coordinated through virtual meetings, supported social distancing, and avoided the high costs and complexity that analog phone forwarding would have required.
