A InterCall Case Study

Preview of the PerkinElmer Case Study

Defining strides in human and environmental health

PerkinElmer, a 75‑year‑old global leader in human and environmental health headquartered in Waltham, MA, with about 8,000 employees across 150+ countries, planned to migrate from Microsoft Office Live Meeting to Microsoft Lync Server 2010. The company needed to scale unified communications adoption from roughly 700 users to 5,000, ensure employees understood Lync’s presence, IM, voice and conferencing features, and find a partner who could deliver consistent training across a large, distributed workforce.

PerkinElmer selected West IP Communications to perform a readiness assessment and deliver web‑based, live and on‑demand training that highlighted Lync’s integrated voice, IM, video and collaboration capabilities and its integration with Exchange, Outlook and SharePoint. Within a short time 5,000 employees were using Lync daily, global audio/video meetings ran smoothly, unsecured third‑party IM was eliminated, and teams reported faster, more efficient collaboration and strong ongoing engagement through West IP–facilitated forums.
