University of Chicago Medical Center Increases Patient Payment Transaction Volume by 43% With InstaMed

University of Chicago Medical Center, a large academic medical center in Hyde Park, needed to improve patient collections and reduce operational friction. The center faced a disconnected online payment experience, manual reconciliation and posting caused by lack of Epic integration, and security/EMV limitations at the point of sale. To address these issues they selected InstaMed for end-to-end integrated payments in their Epic/MyChart environment.

InstaMed implemented a seamless, secure payments solution integrated across Epic and MyChart — adding a digital wallet, payment plans, automatic posting, EMV support and PCI/HITRUST-grade protections — and centralized all transactions for staff. As a result, InstaMed helped the University of Chicago Medical Center achieve a 43% increase in average monthly patient payment transactions, an 11% increase in monthly payment volume, improved upfront copay collection and staff efficiency, and reduced fraud liability.
