Geisinger Health Plan (GHP), which serves over 500,000 members and a provider network of 30,000+ clinicians, struggled with a disconnected provider payment process—managing electronic transactions in‑house while outsourcing check printing—which created heavy manual work, payment errors, provider confusion and stagnant ERA/EFT adoption. To address this, GHP partnered with InstaMed, leveraging the InstaMed Platform and its Integrated ERA/EFT capabilities to improve electronic remittance advice/electronic funds transfer adoption.
InstaMed consolidated all payment processing onto a single platform, eliminated GHP’s check vendor and in‑house workflows, executed a customized multi‑touch provider adoption program and implemented a Claim Payment Card initiative, while delivering Integrated ERA/EFT transactions (including TRN reassociation) for simpler reconciliation. As a result, InstaMed helped GHP increase ERA/EFT transaction items by 60%, grow electronic adoption to 91% of provider payment items, realize $455k in first‑year cost savings and roughly $642k in annual revenue uplift, removing much of the paper‑based inefficiency and error.
