Plantin is a gardening companion app that helps users identify plants and diseases, care for their plants, and connect with a community of gardeners. To grow its user base, the company aimed to increase downloads and encourage more people to sign up for a free trial subscription.
To do this Plantin ran an A/B test comparing its usual automatic placements with a dedicated Instagram Reels campaign using three tailored video assets. The standalone Reels campaign delivered much better performance: 3X lower cost per trial subscription, 26% lower cost per 1,000 views, and 31% lower cost per app install.
