UK Bank Provides Accurate Reporting Across Business Centres

The Co‑operative Bank, a UK high‑street bank with over 3 million customer accounts and 19 regional corporate business centres, needed fast, accurate reporting to support timely decisions across its operations. Its existing mainframe reporting (FOCUS) produced good data but lacked automated distribution, meaning reports could take up to five days to reach users and consumed most of the team’s time.

Information Builders’ WebFOCUS (Resource Manager and Report Caster) was implemented to deliver web‑based reports and scheduled email distribution directly from the mainframe. About 230 reports were automated, cutting processes from days to minutes, improving data accuracy at delivery, freeing staff to focus on development (flipping the 80/20 reporting/development split), boosting output, and enabling new initiatives such as Account Level Profitability, with potential for wider rollout.
