Welthungerhilfe Educating farmers in Zimbabwe with help from Infobip SMS

Welthungerhilfe, a major German NGO focused on fighting hunger and poverty, needed a way to reach farmers in rural Zimbabwe with timely agricultural, health, and market information despite limited internet and smartphone access. To bridge this communication gap, the organization turned to Infobip SMS to connect with farmers who otherwise might not receive critical updates.

Using the Infobip platform and campaign tools, Welthungerhilfe sent alerts and farming advice to 20,000 farmers, delivering 850,000 messages over two years. The Infobip solution enabled instant two-way communication, helped spread cholera warnings and weather forecasts quickly, and improved farmers’ knowledge, decision-making, resilience, and food security.
