A Infobip Case Study
One Acre Fund, a nonprofit supporting smallholder farmers across East Africa, needed a better way to communicate with farmers after its earlier two-way SMS channel had limited functionality, poor service, and no post-paid option. The organization turned to Infobip and its USSD portal to create a more interactive, self-service experience for farmers and reduce its reliance on field staff.
Infobip rolled out the USSD solution in Rwanda and Kenya, adding about nine services to the code and enabling 40,000 to 80,000 interactions per day. The result was higher farmer engagement, faster processing, fewer overhead costs, and improved customer experience, with One Acre Fund recording 1.3 million user sessions in October 2019 and expecting significant further growth.
