Wiley, a global research and learning company, launched WileyPLUS Studio—an invitation-only advocate program for college instructors and student ambassadors—to grow support for its WileyPLUS learning platform. Coming off a community of ~1,100 advocates in 2016, Wiley aimed to reach 1,800 advocates in 2017 and generate 50 sales references.

Wiley used targeted outreach (landing page and video to 6,000 instructors), conference activations with swag, training funnels from WileyPLUS Academy, virtual town halls, interactive challenges, and rewards/insider access to nurture advocates. The program grew to 2,010 advocates (an 83% increase), produced 111 reference letters that influenced $250K in new business, contributed to $65M in WileyPLUS sales, cut user churn by 54%, generated 917 testimonials and 1,466 pieces of product feedback, and greatly improved member NPS.
