Commvault, a data management and protection company, launched Commvault Connections in late 2018 to build a distinct, high-value advocate community. The challenge was to recruit at least 500 of their happiest customers and create an engaging space separate from other customer-facing efforts; the team began by mining positive NPS responders and members of an existing advocacy program.

They activated executives and stakeholders in community discussions, connected advocates to product and UX teams for feedback, ran monthly customer spotlights and feedback surveys, and adopted best practices from Influitive’s community. The program recruited 764 advocates (152% of target), sustained a 51% engagement rate after the first month, and produced 15,203 challenge completions, 17,411 acts of advocacy and 1,173 social shares, while spotlight initiatives sourced conference speakers and social media ambassadors.
