A iLinc Case Study
Williams Scotsman (NASDAQ: WLSC), the leading provider in the mobile and modular space, serves over 30,000 customers across 450 industries. Rapid growth and acquisitions left a small training team responsible for educating nearly 900 employees across more than 100 locations in North America and Europe, so the company needed a distance-learning solution to replace costly, time-consuming in-person classes and scale training without dramatically expanding staff.
Starting in 2000 Williams Scotsman implemented iLinc to deliver frequent, shorter live online sessions, build a blended learning program (Williams Scotsman University), and record courses for self-paced study. The company delivered 795 hours via iLinc in nine weeks during initial rollouts; by 2006 a six-person team delivered 13,852 hours (vs. 4,935 hours by nine staff in 2003), a 321% productivity increase per trainer, while cutting training costs by more than 30%, increasing online participation by 195%, and enabling rapid rollouts to 300–400 employees across 100 locations in 2–3 weeks.
