State of Oregon Uses Ilinc to Increase Training Capacity and Effectiveness While Decreasing the Cost of Training

The State of Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS), which delivers services across six divisions, needed to modernize an early web-conferencing training program that suffered from bandwidth bottlenecks, limited phone bridge capacity, and other technical constraints. DHS aimed to create a professional, studio-based live online training center that would increase course offerings while reducing overall training costs.

DHS implemented iLinc Web conferencing and VoIP, moved to a studio environment, and eliminated major bandwidth and phone issues—saving about $50,000 a year in telephone costs and an estimated $4 million over two years. The new approach supports up to eight classes per week with as many as 200 attendees, expanded offerings (340 sessions in one year versus an initial 250 target), improved interactivity and recording for LMS distribution, and delivered a substantially higher-than-expected ROI.
