State of Arizona Relies on Web and Video Conferencing to Cut Costs and Reduce Co2 Emissions

Under Governor Janet Napolitano, the State of Arizona launched a statewide effort to boost employee productivity, cut travel costs and reduce carbon emissions. The Governor’s Office of Efficiency Review selected iLinc’s web and video conferencing as the preferred solution to replace many in-person meetings, trainings and support sessions across state agencies.

Arizona rolled out iLinc across 14 agencies, investing about $220,000 in year one and quickly realizing major returns: $1.7 million saved in the first half of 2008 and more than 761,000 pounds of CO2 avoided in six months. Over a full year the program’s impacts grew even larger—reducing up to 1.5 million pounds of CO2, saving roughly 126,000 gallons of gasoline, removing the need for about 180 cars, and cutting an estimated $3.2 million in travel-related costs.
