Revolutionizing City Services Through Employee Engagement

The City of Calgary launched the MyCityInnovation program to improve city services and engage its 12,000 employees in sharing and testing ideas. Working with IdeaScale and its myCityInnovation platform, the city set ambitious goals for participation, idea submissions, and tracking innovations from concept to implementation.

IdeaScale helped the City of Calgary create a structured innovation process supported by design thinking, broad internal promotion, and idea assessment through the Civic Innovation Lab. The program delivered strong results, including a 21% adoption rate, nearly three times the expected number of ideas, and higher-than-target engagement in comments and votes, with participation across all city facilities.
