Cerebral Palsy Alliance Learning From Frontline Experience

Cerebral Palsy Alliance, a large Australian nonprofit founded in 1944, wanted to better capture ideas from people living the experience—clients, families and frontline staff—and place those communities at the heart of service design and improvement. The challenge was to create a sustainable, organization-wide way to surface frontline insight, drive responsiveness and build an ongoing innovation culture.

In early 2012 they launched The Innovation Hub, an IdeaScale-powered forum integrated with their intranet and a WordPress innovation blog, supported by an “Innovation Roadshow,” staff presentations and leadership sessions. A frontline panel and streamlined idea process helped convert participation into action: within months the hub generated 100+ ideas, 30% employee participation, three ideas moved into incubation (each including the idea author), and staff reported feeling more heard and valued—while the platform proved quick to implement, easy to use and well supported.
