Building Great Brands Like Hoover, Oreck, Dirt Devil, and Others

TTI Group, a global leader behind brands like Hoover, Oreck, Dirt Devil and Ryobi, wanted to formalize and scale its strong culture of product innovation. To take its innovation “to the next level,” TTI identified idea management as a priority, vetted multiple platforms, and in late 2012 selected IdeaScale to launch the Idea Farm for capturing and organizing employee ideas.

Using monthly themed challenges, rapid micro-challenges, and ongoing idea categories, Idea Farm gives TTI a standardized review process with executive selection and regular community updates (without a formal incentive program). In just over a year the program captured nearly 6,000 ideas from about 500 active contributors, moved many concepts into review and development, produced a product name from 85 employee suggestions in under 12 hours, and improved cross-division collaboration and employee satisfaction.
