Q-Pulse helps Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust provide effective clinical incident reporting

Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust, a specialist cancer centre, faced a sudden increase in reportable radiotherapy incidents after new NPSA/NRTS guidance — rising from about five incidents per six months to roughly 70 per month. With a small Clinical Governance team, the Trust could not meet mandatory NRLS reporting because staff had to manually enter incidents into Q-Pulse and then re-enter the same data into the complex NRLS form, an impractical duplication of work.

Ideagen extended the existing Q-Pulse system to replicate the NRLS form and provide a direct link that batches and uploads incidents automatically at set intervals. This eliminated duplicate entry, improved the integrity and timeliness of internal and external reporting, cut reporting time to about one-third of the previous effort, and enabled the Trust to move from an “under reporter” to full compliance while freeing staff time for other work.
