Case Study: Southampton General Hospital achieves unified quality management and streamlined document and equipment control with Ideagen Q-Pulse

A Ideagen Case Study

Preview of the Southampton General Hospital Case Study

Ideagen’s Q-Pulse successfully delivers unified quality management for Southampton’s university-hospital clinical research partnership and National Institute for Health Research infrastructure

The University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust’s Biomedical Research facility — a major NIHR-funded clinical research hub running early-phase and complex trials — faced growing document-management and compliance pressures. Standard operating procedures and other critical documents were scattered across shared drives, creating version-control problems, extra staff time and regulatory risk, while NHS N3 network restrictions complicated access for university and hospital staff working jointly on research.

Ideagen’s hosted Q-Pulse was implemented to centralize document control and asset management, providing electronic approvals, automated review alerts and an asset register for more than 1,000 pieces of equipment. The solution overcomes N3 access limitations by being securely hosted, streamlines SOP acknowledgements, automates maintenance and calibration scheduling, and materially improved audit readiness and regulatory compliance (including MHRA inspection evidence).
