Travis County, the local government in south-central Texas responsible for roads, courts, law enforcement and social services, struggled to manage required audits using a shared internal drive and paper-based processes. Files could be accidentally or intentionally edited with no audit trail, the most current documents weren’t reliably available, and there was no quick way to view an office’s history or assess risk, which increased the potential for errors and inconsistent reporting.
