A Ideagen Case Study
Midland Aerospace, a specialist manufacturer of small to medium complex structural aerospace parts, faced a sudden influx of roughly 300 new part numbers for a key customer and needed a much faster first article inspection (FAIR) process while maintaining quality. Previously reliant on paper-based drawings and manual entry—even for parts with over 1,000 features—inspectors were spending more than eight hours on a single FAIR, creating delays and risk of errors.
Midland implemented Q-Pulse FAIR, including its CMM parser, to import measurement data directly and guide users with clear validation. Adoption was quick and, over eight to nine years, the company has completed about 9,000 FAIRs; inspection time has dropped from eight-plus hours to as little as one hour in some cases, reducing errors, cutting costs, enabling faster turnarounds and allowing Midland to pass savings on to customers.
