Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust comes to the fore in EPR

Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust, which serves a dense patient population across some 40 sites, needed a secure, paper‑lite electronic patient record (EPR) system to convert years of hard‑copy records and support new files while giving clinicians instant access, saving space and time, and meeting CQC requirements. The Trust’s ICT leadership faced the challenge of deciding where to start and how to manage a high‑volume, confidential scanning operation without disrupting services.

Ideagen implemented dartEDM with OPEX DS2200 scanners and CertainScan capture software, integrated into the Trust’s Graphnet EPR, to deliver a one‑touch workflow that largely eliminates labor‑intensive document preparation and uses Kofax VRS for automatic image enhancement and barcode reading. The solution enabled secure indexing and rapid access to records (about 1,000 records per month), received strong user praise for reliability and support, and set the Trust on a path toward 100% EPR with further rollout and training planned.
