Rydon is a UK-based construction firm founded in 1978 that builds and maintains homes, schools, hospitals and community facilities. As the business prepared for rapid growth, its recruitment relied on paper forms and expensive agencies, producing a poor candidate experience, very few applicants and unsustainable hiring costs—so in 2013 Rydon hired James O’Loughlin to modernize its talent strategy.
Rydon implemented iCIMS Recruit and Connect to create a mobile-optimized careers site, streamline applications and build talent pools, backed by responsive support. The changes cut application time to about eight minutes, drove a 250% increase in submissions, a 66% reduction in time-to-fill, an 85% reduction in cost-per-hire and an eightfold boost in direct hires, helping Rydon sustain an ~80% direct-hire rate.
