Case Study: Lynden achieves 97% increase in applicants and nearly 60% lower driver turnover with iCIMS

A iCIMS Case Study

Preview of the Lynden Case Study

How brilliant mobile recruitment beat the driver shortage crisis and improved employee retention

Lynden, a 72-year-old transportation company with about 3,000 employees, faced a severe driver shortage that forced it to turn down business and struggle to attract younger candidates. The company needed to recruit and retain new commercial drivers—especially millennials—while competing with other carriers and overcoming industry turnover.

Lynden launched a Dock-to-Driver program that trains recruits on the docks while they earn their CDL (with mentoring and tuition support) and built a mobile-first driver career site using iCIMS with short, five-minute applications and engaging content. The result: a 97% increase in applicant volume, a 40% rise in mobile applications, and a 29% driver turnover rate—about 60% below the industry average—while streamlining hiring through automation and HR system integration.
