Star Alliance faced a tight, 12-month deadline to meet alliance technical and loyalty requirements while still running a legacy loyalty platform that could not natively support Star processes. Replacing the airline’s entire loyalty system risked delaying membership, so the airline needed a middleware interface to enable Star-compliant earn/burn, member synchronization and billing without a full overhaul. IBS Software was engaged to deliver this capability using its iFly Loyalty solution.
IBS Software implemented its partner integration hub through iFly Loyalty, conducting on-site workshops, synchronizing member profiles and manifests, and enabling automated accrual/retro/billing exchanges and Star Upgrade Awards (SAUA) support. The platform’s robust messaging and ready-made interfaces allowed seamless integration with existing systems, was delivered in under eight months (well ahead of the 12‑month target), and enabled the customer to join Star Alliance on schedule while improving day-to-day partner interactions.
