South African Airways (SAA), one of Africa’s largest carriers and owner of the Voyager frequent‑flyer program (over 2.5 million members), was constrained by a rigid mainframe legacy system that drove high maintenance costs, enabled fraud and revenue leakage, made partner onboarding difficult, and limited customer‑data driven engagement. IBS Software was engaged to address these scalability, flexibility and compliance challenges using its iFly Loyalty solution.
IBS Software implemented iFly Loyalty, migrating ~2.5 million member profiles (three years of transaction data) in five dry runs with a final cutover under 15 days, and integrated the platform with SAP, Teradata and Amadeus while adding enhanced fraud detection, dynamic redemptions and multi‑channel communications. The consolidated, configurable platform brought Voyager and the OnBiz corporate program onto a single instance, reduced cost of ownership and revenue leakage, sped up regulatory and promotion changes, and helped Voyager’s revenue increase by over 32% in FY2013.
