A IBM Case Study
Samsung Electro-Mechanics, a global manufacturer of core electronic components, needed a better way to manage scattered production data, strict governance requirements, and slow access to information across multiple systems. To support quality, productivity, and higher yields, the company turned to IBM Cloud Pak for Data and IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog to build a more connected data architecture.
With IBM, Samsung Electro-Mechanics centralized and governed data from systems like MES, SAP HANA, Oracle, MS SQL, and Impala into a self-service platform that made data easier to search, share, and use. The result was a major boost in efficiency: data assets grew from 500 to more than 2,500, typical process time dropped from 30 days to 10 days or less, and some tasks that once took a week could be completed in a day.
