Case Study: Japan Airlines achieves greater operational efficiency with IBM Consulting and SAP S/4HANA

A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Japan Airlines Case Study

Japan Airlines partners with IBM Consulting to overcome market disruption and accelerate digital transformation

Japan Airlines, facing pandemic-driven disruption and the end of support for key SAP systems, needed to modernize its finance and reporting environment without slowing its digital transformation. The airline turned to IBM Consulting and SAP to redesign its next-generation finance platform, moving from manual, paper-based processes to a more automated, cloud-ready system.

IBM implemented an upgrade of Japan Airlines’ eJAL platform to SAP S/4HANA on SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud with AWS, along with SAP Analytics tools for better financial visibility and forecasting. IBM delivered the project through a 100% remote deployment, helping JAL complete the migration on schedule, cut SAP customizations by 60%, reduce add-ons from 1,260 to 500, and eliminate delays in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing.
