Meander Medical Center unites physical and digital healing environments

Meander Medical Center, a healthcare provider in the Netherlands serving about 320,000 people, wanted to extend its patient care beyond the hospital by creating a more personalized digital healing environment. To do that, the center worked with IBM Social Business and IBM Digital Experience software to find a portal platform and implementation partner that could support web, mobile, and self-service patient access to healthcare information and services.

IBM Social Business, through Premier Business Partner Funatic, helped Meander Medical Center design and deploy an interactive patient portal, native mobile apps, and a social intranet built on IBM WebSphere Portal, Web Content Manager, Forms Experience Builder, Connections, and Watson Analytics. The solution now gives registered patients access to appointments, personal and insurance information, forms, doctors, and treatment plans, while also improving care coordination and laying the groundwork for future services like patient communities, transportation, and online consultations; Meander reported growing portal and mobile app adoption and is continuing to expand its digital services.
