Case Study: British Airways cuts fuel use and CO2 with i6 Group's digital fuel management technology

A i6 Group Case Study

Preview of the British Airways Case Study

Digitalisation helps British Airways cut thousands of tonnes of fuel and CO2

British Airways, as part of its commitment to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, sought to improve operational efficiency by digitalizing its manual, paper-based aircraft refuelling processes. They partnered with vendor i6 Group to address this challenge and implement a more efficient fuel management solution.

i6 Group provided a comprehensive platform, including its patented eHandshake® technology, to digitally connect pilots and refuellers in real-time. This solution optimized refuelling by over 50%, leading to significant savings. At London Heathrow alone, British Airways saved approximately 2,000 tonnes of fuel and 6,000 tonnes of CO₂, while also enabling safer, contact-free operations.
