How ClickMechanic Used Hotjar to Grow Conversions

ClickMechanic is a UK marketplace that connects drivers with local mechanics. Facing low conversion rates, the team needed to identify what was stopping users from booking — whether pricing, lack of mechanic visibility, or page design — and decided to use Hotjar’s Polls, Session Recordings and Heatmaps to diagnose the problems (and justify upgrading from the free Hotjar plan).

Using an on-page Poll they discovered pricing was out of line and users wanted to see who their mechanic would be; adjusting prices lifted revenue 60% in two months and showing mechanics before booking increased conversions by 10%. Heatmaps revealed most visitors never scrolled past the hero, so they redesigned only the above-the-fold area, saving design/engineering costs and boosting conversions a further 15%.
